Getting to grips with online classes

Every time new academic year begins students expect a bright and successful year. They set new targets for themselves and determine to overcome their fallibilities. Most students look forward to a positive academic performance and gear up to become a better version of themselves.

In a like manner, I too prepared myself for 2020 and was committed to improve my overall academic performance . It was a pity that all my dreams were shattered by the dreadful Covid 19 pandemic that shook the very foundations of our world.

With lock downs being imposed all over the world to contain the spread of the virus, eminent educationists went into deliberations to think of a global solution for school going children. The best they could think of was a shift to online teaching. This was the only recourse that could help millions of school going children who had lost their right to education.

The concept of online teaching was the only way out. The Maldivian Government decided to educate their children via zoom and google meet classes. However, for me, online learning was not very helpful at first. I was having trouble joining the classes and completing the tasks online, mainly due to technical glitches. I found myself lagging far behind many of my peers. I could not understand the explanations given in online classes as I was slow to adapt myself to the new teaching methodology. I was deeply worried and depressed as I had many doubts and the first term exam was just round the corner. I could not focus much during online classes and started losing my motivation to study. I asked my friends for help but most of them were sailing in the same boat too!

As time went by, I slowly started getting used to online learning. My understanding of online classes slowly improved and I finally found myself doing well. I got plenty of help from my teachers who were so patient, and that made me very confident. My teachers helped me clear my doubts by taking ex
